Day 34 (Tues., 6/9)
Well, the contractor was here with the crane at 7:15AM. This picture was
taken around 9AM. Looks like one other person has decided to show up. The
first thing they have to do is load the pile of material onto the truck
and relocate it closer to the house.
Now it's after noon. I came home for lunch and took this picture. It appears
a couple of other people showed up, and they've managed to load about
1/4 of the pile on three or so hours.
It seems they couldn't pick up the pile the way it was delivered, so
they had to disassemble it, load a panel at a time, and then move it.
It was supposed to be a real spectacle, so the neighbors came out
to watch. Or maybe they came to heckle. By now the second load of
material was here, and the truck driver was waiting around to unload
his rig. The first part should have taken about four hours. This
was an unfortunate indication of things to come.
Well, by the end of the day they'd managed to at least get the first
floor framing off the street. The truck driver was able to dump
his load, the entire supply of remaining material. This included
the second floor joists and subfloor, the roof trusses and sheathing
and all of the second floor framing.
This one is interesting. If you can see, this wall appears to be
sitting on air. Someone screwed up when they spec'ed the wall heights,
and the garage walls are all about 10" too short.
At last you can see somethiing that looks like rooms.
