The contractor called this morning and told me his framer wouldn't work for him anymore and he needed to find some more workers. He's starting to have some serious credibility problems, and I'm starting to wonder if I'll have to take him to court.
I spent the day talking to people, and unfortunately it gets real sticky. The maximum bond he might have posted is only $10,000, and even if I go after him I won't be able to find a reputable contractor who'll finish the work while it's in dispute. It looks like my best chance is to work with him and negotiate my way out of this.
On the positive side, he did show up to review the work that needed to
be done where the new roof meets the old. I doubt he would be bothering
if he really intended to walk.
