Day 49 (Wed., 6/24)
It was too good to last. It started raining last night, and it came
down in buckets. It's still raining this morning. There's still no
roof over the addition, the water comes through the first floor ceiling
like a shower. The subfloor is soaked, again. I'm so sick of the rain.
The subfloor is already warped and buckling from the last time it got
soaked, and here we go again....
The stairs are in, that's one positive thing. This is the view of the
wet floors from the top of the stairs on the second floor.
A quick snapshot as I head off to work. I pulled the car partially into the
garage last night, figuring if it did rain maybe we could at least stay
dry getting to the car. But without the felt or shingles the garage roof
leaked at every seam in the sheathing, and the floor had turned to a sea
of mud.
By midday the rain stopped. The framers were back on the job this
afternoon, working to finish the roof sheathing on the second floor and
over the foyer. If we can get it done by tomorrow night we can get the
framing inspection done on Friday and then they can start on the siding.
All that's left after that is the garage slab and then it's all mine to
finish.
